Step 1: The Old City Walk is around 1.5 miles. It’s a short jaunt, but due to some uneven & muddy terrain, is not suited for those with wheels.
Step 2: Mersea does not have its own train station. The closest train stations are Wivenhoe & the Colchester train stations. From a Colchester you can catch a bus to Mersea.
Step 3: Your walk starts here at one of the waterfront car parks. Don’t forget to pay for parking if you drove.
Step 4: Make sure to take in the views of the water to your left. How many boats can you spot? 🛳
Step 5: Continue walking & you’ll pass the Dabchicks Sailing Club. Turn right into The Lane. A stream called ‘the Bumby’ used to pass down here.
Step 6: By City Road notice The Nutshell. Probably the smallest cottage in Essex.
