Step 1: This Follies Walk will cover around 2.5 miles. It includes parts of the ancient path connecting The Old City to the Parish Church & town.
Step 2: Mersea does not have its own train station. The closest train stations are Wivenhoe & the Colchester train stations. From a Colchester you can catch a bus to Mersea.
Step 3: The walk begins here at the coastal car park. If you’ve driven don’t forget to pay for parking before you set off for your jaunt.
Step 4: Head left out of the car park (ensuring the sea is to your left) and walk until you reach Dabchicks Sailing Club.
Step 5: Here you’ll need to turn right into The Lane. A stream used to run down the middle of this street & connected with the sea.
Step 6: This cottage, fondly named The Nutshell, located just after City Road is one of the smallest in Essex.
