  Step 1: Coming from city centre, get off the bus at Woodhall Drive bus stop and walk down the first road on the left

• 

  Step 2: At the bottom the the hill, turn left and start walking along the cycle/foot path until it meets the Water of Leith river

• 

  Step 3: Turn left and start walking up a steep hill, then follow the country road until you come near the observatory. Take a left up some steps
