  Step 1: This walk starts by the Heaven's Gate Car Park, postcode BA12 7LG. Head left by a large fir tree and pass a white metal barrier.

• 

  Step 2: Follow the gravel track to the right by a large boulder sign for Shearwater.

• 

  Step 3: The path changes from gravel to earth and winds through the forest.

• 

  Step 4: You'll be heading gently downhill most of the way to the lake.

• 

  Step 5: The canopy becomes sparser along this section.

• 

  Step 6: Follow the path as it heads sharp left.
