Step 1: We started at Barn Hoppitt Car Park, opposite Butler’s Retreat. You can start at Chingford Station, turn right and walk 10 mins uphill
Step 2: Carefully cross the road and admire the stunning Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge, built in 1543 by Henry VIII
Step 3: It’s free to enter and there’s plenty to learn about life (and food!) in Tudor England. Anyone for 🐷?
Step 4: The stairs are very wide & shallow to allow the gentry access to the upper floors with dignity. The style was copied for Shakespeare’s Globe
Step 5: Oh hey there 👋🏻🦌
Step 6: The views across the plains and forest made for an excellent place view the royal hunt. The plains are fab for kite flying (and walks!)
