Step 1: This walk takes you from Platt Fields Park, through the Curry Mile of Rusholme to Whitworth Park. Starting at the “People’s Park”, we will take in the sights & smells in Rusholme to end by the gallery
Step 2: Start the walk by the memorial bench just by the main gate to Platt Fields Park.
Step 3: The land originally owned by the Platt Family in 1225, it got the name “lands of Platt”. It changed hands three times up until 1907 when the Lord Mayor of Manchester purchased the estate.
Step 4: His aim was to create public parkland for the people in the surrounding area. An idea that was being developed around the city. During a time of high unemployment the development employed 700 men.
Step 5: The borders & lawns are well stocked with plants with the first sign of spring crocuses popping through.
Step 6: To the distance you will spot a spire. This is the top of the Church of the Holy Trinity. It is Grade II listed & of a special form.
