  Step 1: This walk starts off Lingwell Nook Lane. Nearest post code is: WF3 3HZ. Nearest train station is Outwood.

• 

  Step 2: Continue down Lingwood Nook Lane. There are a couple of parking spaces at the end and cars parked along the side road.

• 

  Step 3: Continue through the gate and veer right.

• 

  Step 4: Before its closure in 1981, Lofthouse Colliery was a nationally renowned pit and a really important part of this local community.

• Step 5: The former briquette coal plant was built in 1886 and is said to have produced 36 tons of briquettes per day! Lofthouse Colliery closed in 1981 & the site lay derelict until reclamation began in 1989.
