Step 1: This brand new park is 32 acres of open space directly adjacent to Chinatown. Today we’re taking a circular route.
Step 2: It’s a great place to run, walk, bike, have a picnic, fly a kite and even look for urban wildlife 👍🏻
Step 3: You can follow this route or have fun on your own ramble around the park - you won’t get lost! The park contains some great public art sculptures by local artists. We head to one nearest the entrance first.
Step 4: This mirror-like sculpture glistens in the sun; like water it reflects the sky and the surroundings. Bouncing light and catching your eyes.
Step 5: This is ‘Origins’ by Debra Scacco, a local L.A. Artist. She explores the history of the infamous L.A. river in this piece.
Step 6: One etching maps the flow of the river in 1815 & the other 1825. It was concreted over in 1938 to prevent the ever-changing flow that tore through the city. It’s featured in many Hollywood movies including Grease and Terminator.
