  Step 1: Start the walk from the entrance to the park opposite Farnworth's impressive Carnegie Library, shown here.

• 

  Step 2: Walk straight ahead along the path that rises and then drops fairly steeply to pass a stone monument.

• 

  Step 3: The plaque commemorates a local suffragette, Mary Barnes.

• 

  Step 4: At the next junction, follow the central path ahead. The surface on the left side is smoother.

• 

  Step 5: At the next junction, proceed along the wide cobbled path ahead, which ascends fairly gently.

• 

  Step 6: At the next fork, go left. The lovely level track has a nice smooth surface.
