  Step 3: The walk begins at Castle Motte, the mound is all that remains of original Norman Castle constructed on the orders of William the Conqueror.

• Step 4: From Castle Motte, bear right through Castle Gardens towards Castle Street.

• 

  Step 5: As you pass through Castle Gardens you will pass the rear of the Castle Great Hall on the right.

• Step 6: Continue bearing right through Castle Gardens.
