  Step 1: The walk starts just outside Porthmadog at the layby on the A497 opposite Boston Lodge, (the Ffestiniog Railway’s locomotive works).

• 

  Step 2: From the layby car park, walk down towards the archway which heralds the route of the cycle path

• 

  Step 3: Just beyond the archway are a set of interpretation boards telling you much about the nature and history of this fascinating area

• 

  Step 4: Take a brief detour through the gateway down to the birdwatching hide

• 

  Step 5: The bird hide overlooks the wide floodplain of the inner Glaslyn Estuary, a haven for waterfowl of many types

• 

  Step 6: Spend a moment in the hide, watching the wildlife of the flood plain
