    Step 1: Your walk starts at The King’s Head, New Market

  • Step 2: Plaque 1: The King’s Head is a good place to start your jaunt and the site of your first plaque. There has been an inn known as The King’s Head on this site since 1668, so it may well have been named after Charles II.

  • Step 3:

  • Step 4: Charles II came through Beccles in 1671 and may have stopped at the inn. Several kings have been featured on the inn sign, including Richard II and Henry VIII.

  • Step 5:

  • Step 6: From the end of the right hand side of the King’s Head as you face it, walk into Exchange Square (Sheepgate). On your right hand side is plaque number 2.
