Step 1: Where better place to start, than in the shadow of the imposing spire of St Andrews church.
Step 2: The walk starts at Penlan Library & Community Centre, at the end of Wellfield Road, that meets Penylan Hill. We’re heading down the left hand side of the Recreational Ground, parallel to Ninian Road.
Step 3: And off onto Roath Recreational ground (passing through on the overly criticised footpath).
Step 4: The Rec is always nicer during the warm months, full of of people enjoying the open space, but a little more sedate during winter.
Step 5: So onto the prettier Roath Pleasure Gardens.
Step 6: Out of the Pleasure Gardens and we’re at the Fairoak Roundabout (this was the terminus for the Roath tram, back in the 1940s).
