• Step 1: The Swale National Nature Reserve car park is here (Shellness Rd, Leysdown-on-Sea, Sheerness ME12). Keep dogs under control or on a lead during bird-nesting season which is usually spring or summer.

• 

  Step 2: With the car park behind you, stop & admire the views. Then, head through the gate and walk towards the sea, straight ahead.

• 

  Step 3: Continue on the footpath. In wet or wintry weather it may be muddy underfoot. See if you can spot any birds of prey.

• 

  Step 4: When you reach the sea, turn right.

• 

  Step 5: We’re going to walk towards the Pillbox and then loop back.

• 

  Step 6: The pillbox marks the start of the wildlife sanctuary so please don’t go beyond the blue rope. Don’t miss the street art on the pillbox.
