Step 1: Start at SHOP on Syke Street - named after the ‘river’ Syke that used to run through the city… more on that soon.
Step 2: Head down cross street to the end of Avenham Road.
Step 3: Head up Avenham Road to find the former gold thread works on your right. They had a secret room in here during WWII forging German uniforms.
Step 4: At the end of the street is this public sculpture commemorating the work and technological advances of Simpsons Mill.
Step 5: Back down the road and to the end of Cannon Street you’ll discover this blue tiled wall, perfect for photoshoots!
Step 6: Walk to the other end of cross street and into the glorious Winckley Square. You’ll pass this statue of former Prime Minister Robert Peel.
