• 

  Step 1: Park safely on Scotby Village Green. There is a small village shop and excellent pub here

• Step 2: With the shop behind you, take the road east ahead of you out of the village, towards Wetheral

• Step 3: After the road bears right, just before the speed limit sign, turn left and follow the public footpath under the railway bridge.

• 

  Step 4: After about 50 yards, at the end of the track, turn right and go over 2 stiles, following an ancient bridleway

• Step 5: At the end of the hawthorn trees, continue across the field to the gate directly ahead

• Step 6: You are now crossing Carlisle golf course. Be careful crossing the fairways and watch for flying golf balls! Follow the way marked path across the first fairway, through a small wood, then across a second larger area into the wood
