River South Esk

Walk preview

1. 

   Step 1: Start near the church gates at Temple Midlothian. There is a gate through the wall which is signposted. The walk is three miles long.

2. 

   Step 2: The path rises and falls through the woods and some of the path has steps and roots to assist the Walker.

3. 

   Step 3: After Trotters Bridge the path follows the right hand bank through the trees, there is an old pumping station to explore.

4. 

   Step 4: There is no traffic noise and only birds singing and the river noise, there are a few up hill sections and then downhill through the woods

5. 

   Step 5: The path follows the south Esk and uses land belonging to Arniston Estate which boasts an impressive Georgian House.
