  • Step 1: This walk is easily accessible by rail or by parking either end & taking a half hourly train. We parked in Reading at King’s Meadow.

  • Step 2: From the station exit to the river side, turn right out of the doors and walk past the car park. Cross at the lights that run parallel to the rail bridge. Turn left then right before crossing at the Lido parking sign.

  • Walk past the car park and you’ll see the lido ahead. It’s worth trying to combine a visit post walk.

  • Follow the path to the left of the lido and you’ll arrive on the riverfront. Turn left. Caversham lock is behind and Reading Bridge ahead.

  • Head to the bridge and take a right to pass under and then up the steps. The concrete bridge was built in 1923.

  • Up ahead you’ll see Christchurch Foot Bridge. You can cross here or on Reading bridge, then head back via Caversham Bridge if preferred.
