  Step 1: You can start from Leigh bus station, served by express buses from Manchester and services from elsewhere, or from the car park at step 23.

• Step 2: Please note that parts of this walk may be damp, muddy and slippery at any time of year and especially after periods of wet weather. Please bear this in mind when planning your trip.

• 

  Step 3: Exit the station, passing the Travelshop and then the bike parking hub to your right.

• Step 4: Turn left along the pavement of King Street (B5215).

• 

  Step 5: At the major junction, continue straight ahead to cross Spinning Jenny Way via three push button crossings.

• Step 6: Continue along the left-hand pavement of St Helens Road (A572), keeping the large pub to your left.
