Step 1: Begin at Longshaw National Trust Car park, and follow the path to the visitor centre and tea room, then cross the drive and turn left.
Step 2: Pass in front of the lodge, once a shooting retreat for the Duke of Rutland and his guests, including George V and the Duke of Wellington.
Step 3: Cross the open pasture to a small gate. Take the path to the right that leads through tangles of Rhododendron bushes and to the pond.
