• 

  Step 1: Park near The Rising Sun pub (out of Scholar Green towards Mow Cop). Walk to the bridge. Take the towpath keeping the canal on your left.

• 

  Step 2: Just before Bridge 89, leave the towpath at the gate. Head up towards and over the bridge.

• 

  Step 3: Follow the lane, go under the railway bridge. Carry on along the footpath, heading towards the woods.

• 

  Step 4: The stile is ahead of you at the right hand corner of the field.

• 

  Step 5: Cross the stile and enter the woods. Keep to which ever footpath seems to be "straight ahead".

• 

  Step 6: Where the path forks, keep right and to the higher ground. It looks "straight" on a map but "to the right" on the ground.
