• Step 1: Section 16 is the longest section of the Loop so we have split it into two parts with the break about two thirds of the way at High Barnet. There are signposts and waymarks in places but they cannot be relied on.

• Step 2: Part A is a varied and enjoyable 7 mile walk with ups and downs. Walking is generally easy but some paths are muddy after wet weather. This version of the walk takes advantage of two alternative routes.

• Step 3: The alternative routes greatly cut down on the walking beside noisy roads while not increasing the distance. See the Inner London Ramblers web site for details of the ‘official’ route.

• Step 4: Veer slightly right past bus stop A on leaving Elstree & Borehamwood station. Turn right down Station Road.

• 

  Step 5: Keep ahead through bollards into a residential street (Coleridge Way). Follow to the end, bend left and then turn right into Auden Drive.

• 

  Step 6: At the end of Auden Drive turn left into Wordsworth Gardens. Curve right round the green space.
