• 

  Step 1: This walk starts at the Leam Lane Library and community centre on Cotemede (129 Cotemede, Gateshead NE10 8QH).

• Step 2: There is a bus stop for the 51, 57, 58, 58A, 67 and 69, just up the road. The Leam Lane Library has a food-bank, toilets and an active travel hub where you can learn more about walking and cycling locally.

• 

  Step 3: With your back to the library, turn right. Cross over the side road, Wealcroft, and then pause to cross Cotemede.

• 

  Step 4: Wait for a break in the traffic and then cross. Up ahead you’ll see a path inbetween the houses.

• 

  Step 5: Follow the path through the estate.

• 

  Step 6: Continue straight up Coverdale.
