• Step 1: A 6-mile linear walk connecting the railway stations of Haywards Heath with Balcombe on the Brighton Main Line. This walk heads over rolling hills, through woodland and around Ardingly Reservoir.

• 

  Step 2: Start this walk at Haywards Heath station, with Southern and Thameslink trains to Central London and beyond.

• Step 3: This walk includes off-road paths which can be very muddy after rain. Dogs are welcome, but as the walk goes through a golf course and fields with livestock, they should be kept on leads.

• 

  Step 4: Outside the station entrance, turn right, walking past the florist and Waitrose.

• 

  Step 5: Follow the path to the left.

• 

  Step 6: Then carefully cross the road at the traffic island just to the left.
