Step 1: We start at Greenwich Station so we could grab some food first. Alternatively, start the walk via Island Gardens Station or via bus nearer to the foot tunnel entrances, either side. Exit the station & head up to the high street.
Step 2: Take a left at the High St & continue along the road, past shops and bars. Head towards St Alfege’s Church at the junction. You’ll find lots of food options around here. Cross at Creek Rd to arrive at the Riverside & Cutty Sark
Step 3: This is the Cutty Sark which is open to visitors. Keep on towards the river and foot tunnel entrance.
Step 4: The foot tunnel entrances can be seen either side of the river. Here we have views of Canary Wharf. Head into the tunnel entrance.
Step 5: Head downstairs or take the lift if needed - the lifts were both working which is sadly not always the case. There are 100 steps down here.
Step 6: Head through the tunnel, it slopes either side so we head downhill initially. It’s wide and often busy so feels safe. It’s cool in summer.
