  • Step 1: We started at Greenwich Station so to visit a cafe before starting. Alternatively, start the walk at Island Gardens Station or via bus nearer to the either foot tunnel entrance. We exited the station & headed to the high street.

  • Step 2: At the High St turn left & continue along past shops & bars towards St Alfege’s Church. You’ll find lots of food options around here, plus shops & markets. Cross at Creek Rd to arrive at the Riverside & Cutty Sark.

  • Walk past the Cutty Sark, which is open to visitors. Continue towards the river and foot tunnel entrance.

  • The foot tunnel entrances can be seen either side of the river. Here we have views of Canary Wharf. Head into the tunnel entrance.

  • Head downstairs or take the lift if needed - the lifts were both working which is sadly not always the case. There are 100 steps down here.

  • Head through the tunnel, it slopes either side so we head downhill initially. It’s wide & often busy so feels safe. It’s cool in summer.
