• Step 1: The starting point of this 4km walk is across the road from the parking place near the visitors’ centrum ‘De Hoep’. The walk is marked with small poles with green arrows (like the one in step 20)

  Step 2: From the parking place, cross the road and turn left when you come across a green arrow. After that, just keep following the green arrows...

• 

  Step 3: ...and enjoy the forest around you.

• 

  Step 4: Originally, this part of the ‘Noordhollands Duinreservaat’ was part of a 1100 hectares estate - estate Bakkum.

• 

  Step 5: It has retained its estate character and has the oldest Scots pines of the dune reserve (1860)...

• 

  Step 6: ... which were part of the first attempts to afforest the dune reserve.
