Step 1: Welcome to the Cudmore Grove World War Two Trail. Looking around now it’s hard to visualise the role the cliffs had during WW2.
Step 2: If you plan to take public transport, your closest bus stop is the Fen Lane stop. Buses 69 & 69A stop here.
Step 3: There’s a car park at Cudmore Grove which you’re able to park at for your walk. Be sure to pay & display before you set off. There’s public toilets for you to use too.
Step 4: From 1939- 1945 this was the site of a coastal artillery battery built to guard this stretch of Essex shoreline, from a seaborne attack.
Step 5: Continue along towards the sea and you’ll find one of the trail information boards.
Step 6: What a beautiful view. Take some time to read the board. There are lots of photos that demonstrate what you’re about to find on the beach.
