1. Step 1: From the Place Quinconces, explore the Place de la Bourse, Place du Parlement, the Grand Théâtre, Place Pey Berland, Place Gambetta and Place Tourny. Enjoy!

   Step 2: Let’s start off at the Quinconces tram & bus hub. Cross the road to the Place Quinconces.

   Step 3: Two Bordeaux philosophers await you here. Michel de Montaigne (1533-1592) on the left...

   Step 4: ...and Montesquieu (1689-1755) exactly opposite, on the right.

   Step 5: Created between 1894 & 1902, the Monument to the Girondins is one of Bordeaux’s most distinctive landmarks.

6. Step 6: The monument honours the Girondins, a group of moderate bourgeois National Assembly deputies during the French Revolution. 22 of them were executed in 1793 after being convicted of counter-revolutionary activities.
