Step 1: This is a truly wonderful walk from Chirk to Chirk Castle. It crosses parklands, descends to the Ceiriog River, along it and back to Chirk. There is so much variety!
Step 2: FEB 25 ⚠️ - reports that there is no bridge at step 85 and lots of flooding / storm erosion.
Step 3: The walk starts at Chirk railway station. You can also get there by the No. 2 (Oswestry) bus from Wrexham. There are usually trains or buses every 30 minutes to Chirk station. In wet or wintry weather, sections may get muddy.
Step 4: We recommend sturdy shoes that are ready for steep paths and lots of stiles. Bring plenty of snacks and water. There’s also grazing animals in many of the fields. Dogs under tight control please, follow signage.
Step 5: Exit the railway station and turn right to cross over the railway bridge on Llwyn Y Cil road.
Step 6: Immediately after, turn right to enter the parklands through the wooden gate.
