Step 1: Due to its remote location, this walk is only really accessible by car or bike. The walk starts from Bruce’s Stone Car Park (DG8 6SU).
Step 2: Please note: This walk follows steep and uneven paths alongside the burn which includes waterfalls. It can get very muddy, slippy and wet as the burn often spills onto the foot path. Some rocks need to be scrambled over.
Step 3: Follow the well-trodden path which signposts you to Bruce’s Stone, a monument to Robert the Bruce.
Step 4: The undulating path lies on an elevated position in Glen Trool. Continue past the big oak tree.
Step 5: Just off the path you’ll enjoy incredible views of Loch Trool. Apparently this area is reported to be the darkest place in the UK at night.
Step 6: Keep to the path, wind past the tree and a large rock. This isn’t Bruce’s one FYI. ☺️
