Step 1: Get ready to hike The Skirrid, known locally as the ‘Holy Mountain’. It used to be thought that soil from the mountain was holy and especially fertile so it was often taken and scattered on local fields.
Step 2: Although there is a shorter up and back route to the top, this 4 mile circular route is quieter and goes through some more beautiful woodland. It should take 2-3 hours approximately.
Step 3: Start at the car park. Don’t forget to pay and display.
Step 4: There is board with some more information on the route.
Step 5: Pass the board and go through a gate.
Step 6: Then take a right up the road lined by hedges on either side.
