  Step 1: The car park beside the shore in Bangor is a good place to start

• 

  Step 2: Walk uphill from the car park, keeping the shore on the left, then turn into the lane down to Port Penrhyn

• 

  Step 3: Follow the lane, forking left down towards the harbour

• 

  Step 4: Cross the river, on the lower bridge

• 

  Step 5: It’s worth taking a short detour along the dockside

• 

  Step 6: You can easily imagine how busy this once was with huge sailing boats loading their slate cargoes here
