• 

  Step 1: Start in the free long stay car park on Wilne Lane.

• 

  Step 2: Go through the metal squeeze stile to access the footpath and continue past the purple Trent Valley Greenway sign.

• 

  Step 3: You’ll reach a junction on the footpath. Turn right and continue along the Trent Valley Greenway toward the Trent-Mersey canal.

• 

  Step 4: Continue on the footpath. The hedge blocks most of the canal view but there are some gaps where you can access the parallel canal towpath.

• 

  Step 5: Cross the bridge across the River Trent. As you cross the bridge you leave Derbyshire and enter Leicestershire.

• 

  Step 6: After the bridge is a fork in the path. Turn right to continue this circular walk. (Turn left to continue on the path to Sawley Marina.)
