  Step 1: Welcome to Paper Mill Lock. There is parking available during tea room opening times. Alternatively there are gravel lay-bys located nearby.

• 

  Step 2: The walk begins here at the Paper Mill Lock information board. To get here turn left away from the tea room.

• 

  Step 3: There are lovely views of the canal & the lock from this point. You may even spot a swan 🦢 or two!

• 

  Step 4: Head back towards the Paper Mill Lock tearoom. They serve cakes, hot drinks & sandwiches. Plus there are toilets on site.

• 

  Step 5:

• Step 6: Just beyond the lock is the Island. In 1702 there were two mills located here. One ground corn & the other (you guessed it) made paper.
