  Step 1: Park at Gilwern wharf car park, Walk along the Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal to bridge 106 and go over this bridge

• 

  Step 2: Walk up the sunken path to St Elli Church

• 

  Step 3: Through the Churchyard and it’s old Yew trees exit through the top gate turn right then left at the end of the cottages

• 

  Step 4: Follow the road up to the junction of the Hafod Road

• 

  Step 5: Follow the sign to the Lonely Shepherd

• 

  Step 6: On the way up there are great views of Abergavenny The Blorange is on the right The Sugarloaf on the left
