  Step 1: Welcome to Flint Station! Served by Transport for Wales trains from Birmingham, Manchester, and Holyhead, it’s easy to get here by train.

• 

  Step 2: Let’s get going. Exit out of Platform 1 using the ramp. From the station, head straight down Castle Street.

• 

  Step 3: Wonder why it’s called Castle Street? After a short walk, cross Castle Dyke Street and head straight up the paved path towards the ruins.

• 

  Step 4: Flint Castle is the earliest and most unusual of Wales’ English built castles. Feel free to head in and explore - it’s free to enter.

• 

  Step 5: It is dominated by a great tower that had its own moat and drawbridge, making it essentially a castle within a castle.

• 

  Step 6: You can climb up the tower for excellent views of the surroundings.
