  Step 1: The walk starts at the Dinorwic Terminus of the 83 bus service (from Caernarfon), where there is also plenty of space to park a car

• 

  Step 2: Go through the kissing gate at the corner of the bus turnaround loop

• 

  Step 3: Take good note of the warning notice not to stray off the route. There are some tempting artefacts to see, but exploration could be perilous

• Step 4: Fortunately the route through the quarry is very well fenced on either side, which helps keep inquisitive dogs and children safely away from danger

• 

  Step 5: The route is clear and even, and rises gently up though the overgrown quarry margins

• 

  Step 6: Soon the route emerges onto an open plateau with the outline of a huge slate mill straight ahead
