  • Step 1: Start at Fairholmes where you will find a car park, toilets, cycle hire, a refreshment kiosk & visitor centre. This circular route to Slippery Stones is great to cycle as well as walk!

  • Step 2: Although the route is long at about 16km (10 miles), it’s quite easy-going on good quality, mostly even paths that should be accessible for most walkers, cyclists & all-terrain wheelchairs.

  • Step 3: There is one section of rough/uneven path with some gentle hills at the top end of Howden reservoir, just before you reach Slippery Stones.

  • Follow the path that passes in front of the Derwent Dam.
