Step 1: This walk was created in partnership with Cherwell District Council. Enjoy over 30 walks across North Oxfordshire and experience the sights and sounds of nature as you go.
Step 2: Much of the route crosses land which was the scene of the Civil War Battle of Cropredy Bridge in June 1644, hence the title Cropredy Battlefield Walk.
Step 3: The Canal and River Trust towpath is narrow and badly eroded in places so keep an eye out for potholes. There are usually some livestock on this walk and a stile at Step 53.
Step 4: Turn left out of the Cropredy Sports Ground car park (OX17 1PQ – 2.2 metre height barrier) and walk along the path.
Step 5: You are advised to wear stout, waterproof footwear as walking in the countryside can be muddy and wet, even in the summer months. For advice on best ways to walk in the countryside check out the read more panel below.
Step 6: Walk over Cropredy Bridge, which crosses the River Cherwell, and continue to the canal bridge.
