Step 1: Park at Fosse Meadows. There is a car park here for those who need it. The walk begins in the second car park.
Step 2: Please note that we’ve received reports that the paths on part of this walk are very overgrown. This has been passed on to the local public rights of way team.
Step 3: Begin your walk heading back through the car park entrance gate and turn right onto the road .
Step 4: Walk along the road, which follows the course of the Roman Fosse Way.
Step 5: The Romans quickly established a network of roads after their initial invasion of 43 AD. Roads were essential for moving troops and supplies quickly across the country.
Step 6: The surveyors would find the highest ground and then plot the road directly between the high points, resulting in the long straight roads that we still see today.
