  Step 1: This walk starts at the free car park at the end of Gale Lane, east of Applethwaite. Head through the wooden gate at the end of the lane.

• 

  Step 2: Turn right immediately after to head through another wooden gate.

• 

  Step 3: Ahead you’ll be able to see views towards Bassenthwaite Lake.

• 

  Step 4: Turn left after the gate and onto the gravel path.

• 

  Step 5: After heading slightly uphill you’ll reach a fork in the paths. Take the left hand fork. For an easier walk, go right.

• 

  Step 6: Depending on the weather, you may get some cool views watching the weather change over Skiddaw behind you to the right.
