Step 1: Houghton Hall is the former residence and built by the UK’s first prime minister, Sir Robert Walpole. It is said to be one of the grandest survivors of the Palladian era architecture (European style).
Step 2: Check their website for opening times over the summer! This trial is a sneak preview and there’s so much more to see. We bought tickets for the grounds only. The Cafe is free to enter.
Step 3: There’s a great kids adventure playground in the car park. We went straight into the walled garden for a wander. Look for the big gates on the left as you face the stables.
Step 4: In through the walled garden gates you must go. Explore!
Step 5: The gardens are very well kept and glorious inside. You might get lost in here forever.
